Nizari Isma'ilism
Nizari Isma'ilism is a branch of Ismaili Shi'ism that arose from the Fatimid succession crisis of 1094, when supporters of the designated heir Nizar rejected the accession of al-Musta'li. Under Hasan-i Sabbah it established a state based at Alamut that opposed the Seljuk Empire. The branch survives today under the leadership of the Aga Khan.
