Nome
A nome was an administrative province of ancient Egypt, each governed by an official known to historians as a nomarch. Egypt was traditionally divided into some forty nomes along the Nile valley and delta. In the Egyptian New Kingdom provincial governors administered the nome districts, while Nubia was governed separately by the Viceroy of Kush.
