North Channel
The North Channel is the strait between north-east Ireland and south-west Scotland, only about 20 kilometres wide between Antrim and Kintyre. In antiquity and the early Middle Ages it was a highway rather than a barrier: the Gaelic kingdom of Dál Riata spanned both shores, linking Antrim with Argyll.
