Osiris

Osiris was the ancient Egyptian god of the dead, the afterlife and regeneration, shown as a mummified king. In myth he was murdered by his brother Seth and revived by his wife Isis, becoming the father of Horus and ruler of the underworld. Abydos was his chief cult centre, and from the Middle Kingdom pilgrims and officials set up memorials along the processional way to his supposed tomb there.
