Ovamboland
Ovamboland is the region of northern Namibia inhabited by the Ovambo people, between the Etosha Pan and the Angolan border. German rule hardly reached it, but after 1915 it came under South African administration and was later made an apartheid-era homeland with its own legislative council. It supplied much of the colony's migrant labour and became the heartland of support for SWAPO.
