Peace of Basel (1795)
The Peace of Basel was the set of treaties of 1795 by which Prussia, Spain and Hesse-Kassel made peace with revolutionary France. In the Prussian treaty of 5 April 1795, Prussia withdrew from the War of the First Coalition, accepted French occupation of the left bank of the Rhine and secured the neutrality of northern Germany. It left Prussia free to concentrate on the partitions of Poland.
