Peace of Münster

1648 · 17th century · Also known as Treaty of Münster · Part of the Dutch Revolt

The Peace of Münster was the treaty signed in Münster on 30 January 1648 between Spain and the Dutch Republic, one of the settlements of the Peace of Westphalia. It ended the Eighty Years' War, with Spain recognising the independence of the United Provinces. It also confirmed Dutch conquests, including northern Brabant, and the closure of the Scheldt, which harmed Antwerp.
