Perthshire

Also known as County of Perth

Perthshire is a historic county of central Scotland, stretching from the Highlands of Atholl and Breadalbane to the lowland valley of the Tay. It contains Scone, where Scottish kings were inaugurated, and the early church centre of Dunkeld, and in the Pictish period it lay at the heart of the over-kingship that grew into the kingdom of Alba. Its county town is Perth.
