Phthia
Phthia was a region of southern Thessaly in ancient Greece, celebrated in Homer as the homeland of Achilles and his Myrmidons. Its exact extent is uncertain, but ancient writers placed it around the Spercheios valley and the plain of Pharsalus. The name survives in Phthiotis, the district of Achaea Phthiotis in antiquity and a regional unit of modern Greece.
