Phu Tho province
Phu Tho is a province of northern Vietnam, north-west of Hanoi, where the Red River leaves the mountains. Vietnamese tradition places here the homeland and capital of the Hung kings of Van Lang, and its temple on Nghia Linh mountain is the centre of their national cult, with the Hung Kings' death anniversary a public holiday. Its capital is Viet Tri.
