Ma River
The Ma River is a river of northern Laos and north-central Vietnam, about 500 km long, flowing south-east through Thanh Hoa province to the Gulf of Tonkin. Its lower valley is one of the cradles of Vietnamese civilisation, home with the Red River delta to the Dong Son culture, whose type site lies on its bank. Thanh Hoa was later the home region of Le Loi and of the Nguyen lords.
