Praxiteles

Praxiteles was an Athenian sculptor of the 4th century BCE, one of the most admired artists of ancient Greece. His Aphrodite of Knidos, the first large-scale female nude in Greek sculpture, made the city a destination for visitors. His works, known mainly from Roman copies, are noted for graceful relaxed poses and soft modelling; a marble Hermes with the infant Dionysus found at Olympia may be an original.
