Pyramid of the Moon

c. 100–450 · 2nd century

The Pyramid of the Moon is the second-largest pyramid of Teotihuacan, standing at the northern end of the Avenue of the Dead with Cerro Gordo behind it. Excavations have shown that it was enlarged in seven stages between about 100 and 450 CE, and burials of sacrificed humans and animals with rich offerings were placed inside it at several stages.
