The Pyramid of the Niches is the best-known building of El Tajín, the pre-Columbian city in Veracruz, Mexico. It is a stepped platform of six tiers, its sides lined with 365 deep square niches thought to relate to the solar year, crowned by a temple and approached by a steep stairway. It is the emblem of the site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
