Qinghai Lake

Also known as Kokonor

Qinghai Lake, also known by its Mongolian name Kokonor, is the largest lake in China, a salt lake on the north-eastern Tibetan Plateau. Its grasslands supported pastoral peoples for millennia, and from the 4th to the 7th century they were the heartland of the Tuyuhun kingdom, which controlled routes between China, Tibet and Central Asia.
