Rakvere
Rakvere, German Wesenberg, is a town in northern Estonia. Near it on 18 February 1268 the armies of Novgorod and other Russian principalities fought the Livonian Order and the Danish vassals of northern Estonia in the bloody Battle of Wesenberg, which neither side won decisively. The town grew under Danish and Livonian rule around a castle whose ruins still stand.
