Lake Peipus
Lake Peipus is a large lake on the border between Estonia and Russia. In the Middle Ages it marked the frontier between the lands of the Estonians, conquered by the Livonian crusaders in the 13th century, and the Novgorod Republic. On its frozen surface Alexander Nevsky defeated the Livonian Order in 1242 at the Battle on the Ice.
