Person
Rando
Rando was an Alemannic prince who in 368 surprised the Roman city of Mainz while its garrison was absent and its people were celebrating a Christian festival, carrying off many captives and much plunder. The raid provoked Valentinian I's invasion of Alemannic territory that year, which ended in the hard-fought Roman victory at Solicinium. He is known from Ammianus Marcellinus.
