Ranquel
The Ranquel, or Rankülche, are an indigenous people of the central Argentine pampas, formed in the 18th century from Mapuche-speaking and other groups. Living by horse herding and raiding, they were allies and rivals of Juan Calfucurá's Salinas Grandes confederation and are described in Lucio V. Mansilla's 1870 book An Excursion to the Ranquel Indians. Their independence ended with the Conquest of the Desert of 1878–1879.
