Recklinghausen

Recklinghausen is a city in the Ruhr area of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. From the 13th century it was the centre of the Vest Recklinghausen, an outlying territory of the Electorate of Cologne, which passed to the Duke of Arenberg in 1803 and to Prussia in 1815. In the 19th and 20th centuries it grew with coal mining.
