Meppen

Meppen is a town in Emsland, Lower Saxony, Germany, where the Hase joins the Ems. It belonged to the Prince-Bishopric of Münster until 1803, when it passed to the Duke of Arenberg, and in 1815 it came under the Kingdom of Hanover, with the dukes keeping rights as mediatised lords. A large weapons-testing range was set up there by the Krupp company in the 1870s.
