Eifel

The Eifel is a low mountain range in western Germany, between Aachen, Trier and Koblenz, extending into eastern Belgium. Its volcanic landscape includes crater lakes known as maars. In the Middle Ages and early modern period it was divided among many small territories, including the abbey of Prüm and the counties of Manderscheid and Blankenheim.
