Regency period (Brazil)
The Regency period was the era from 1831 to 1840 when Brazil was governed by regents on behalf of the young Pedro II after his father's abdication. It was marked by serial provincial rebellions, including the Cabanagem and the Ragamuffin War. It ended when Pedro II was declared of age in 1840, stabilising the Brazilian Empire.
