Rochester, Kent

Also known as Durobrivae

Rochester is a town in Kent, England, where the Roman road of Watling Street crossed the River Medway. An Iron Age settlement and then the Roman town of Durobrivae, it became in 604 the seat of England's second-oldest bishopric. Its Norman castle keep and cathedral survive.
