Roman–Parthian Wars
The Roman–Parthian Wars were the conflicts between Rome and the Parthian Empire from 54 BCE to 217 CE, the first phase of the Roman–Persian Wars. They began with Crassus's disastrous defeat at Carrhae in 53 BCE and centred on Armenia and Mesopotamia; the armies of Trajan, Lucius Verus and Septimius Severus all sacked the Parthian capital Ctesiphon. The last war ended after the Battle of Nisibis in 217, shortly before the Sasanians overthrew the Parthians.
