Rushen Abbey

1134–1540 · 12th century

Rushen Abbey was a monastery at Ballasalla in the south of the Isle of Man, founded in 1134 by King Olaf I of Mann and the Isles and later part of the Cistercian order. It was the island's most important religious house, and the Chronicle of the Kings of Mann and the Isles is thought to have been kept there. It was dissolved in 1540.
