Sack of Surat

1664 · 17th century · Part of the Mughal–Maratha Wars

The sack of Surat in 1664 was a raid by the Maratha leader Shivaji on the wealthy Mughal port city of Surat in Gujarat. His forces seized large amounts of wealth from the city over several days.
