Sadyattes was a king of Lydia of the Mermnad dynasty, son of Ardys and father of Alyattes, who reigned in the later 7th century BCE from his capital at Sardis. Herodotus records that he began the long war against Miletus, invading its territory every year at harvest time to burn the crops, a war that his son continued until peace was made with the tyrant Thrasybulus.
