San people
The San are indigenous hunter-gatherer peoples of southern Africa, living today mainly in Botswana, Namibia and South Africa and speaking click languages of several families. Their rock art spans thousands of years. Colonial expansion in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries brought frontier wars in which many were killed or forced into servitude, and some missions, such as Philippolis, were founded for them.
