Sapa Inca
Sapa Inca, the 'unique Inca', was the title of the ruler of the Inca state. Believed to descend from the sun god Inti, the Sapa Inca was an absolute ruler of sacred status, governing the four quarters of the empire from Cusco. After his death his mummy was kept by his royal lineage, or panaca, which retained his estates. Atahualpa was the last to rule before the Spanish conquest.
