Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi

Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi was ruler of Sharjah from 1951 to 1965. Sympathetic to the Arab nationalism of Gamal Abdel Nasser, he was deposed by the British in 1965 and went into exile in Cairo, being replaced by his cousin Khalid bin Muhammad. In January 1972 he returned and attempted a coup in which Khalid was killed, but the attempt failed and he was detained.
