Sarekat Islam
Sarekat Islam was an Indonesian organisation founded in 1912 out of an association of Muslim batik traders, and under Oemar Said Tjokroaminoto it became the first mass political movement in the Dutch East Indies, with hundreds of thousands of members by 1919. It called for self-government and the economic advancement of Indonesians. In the early 1920s it split between its Islamic leadership and a communist wing.
