Satricum

Satricum was an ancient town of Latium, at Borgo Le Ferriere near Latina south of Rome, contested between Latins and Volsci in the 5th and 4th centuries BCE. Its temple of Mater Matuta yielded the Lapis Satricanus, a Latin inscription of about 500 BCE naming the companions of a Publius Valerius, possibly Publius Valerius Publicola, one of the earliest Latin texts.
