Privernum
Privernum was a Volscian town in southern Lazio, near modern Priverno, in the hills above the Pontine plain. After repeated wars with Rome it was captured in 329 BCE, and its people later received Roman citizenship. The excavated remains of the Roman town, with houses, mosaics and a forum, lie in the valley below the original hilltop site.
