Scottish–Norwegian War

1262–1266 · 13th century

The Scottish–Norwegian War was fought from 1262 to 1266 between Alexander III of Scotland and Haakon IV of Norway over the Hebrides and the Isle of Man. Haakon's great expedition of 1263 ended indecisively at Largs, and he died in Orkney soon after; by the Treaty of Perth (1266) Norway ceded the Hebrides and Man to Scotland.
