Scrovegni Chapel

c. 1305 · 14th century · Also known as Arena Chapel

The Scrovegni Chapel in Padua was built for the banker Enrico Scrovegni and consecrated in 1305. Giotto covered its interior with a fresco cycle of the lives of the Virgin and Christ and the Last Judgement, under a deep blue vault. It is one of the most important works of Western painting and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
