Sebastián Hurtado de Corcuera
Sebastián Hurtado de Corcuera was a Spanish soldier and governor-general of the Philippines from 1635 to 1644. He led campaigns against the Muslim sultanates of the south, capturing Sultan Kudarat's stronghold at Lamitan in 1637 and Jolo in 1638. His quarrels with the Archbishop of Manila and the loss of the Spanish post on Formosa to the Dutch in 1642 led to his imprisonment after his term.
