Segura River
The Segura is a river of south-eastern Spain, about 325 km long, rising in the Sierra de Segura in Jaén and flowing through Murcia and Orihuela to the Mediterranean at Guardamar. Its valley and the huertas of Murcia and Orihuela have been irrigated since Islamic times by networks of canals and water-wheels. The river is subject to severe floods and droughts.
