Shalfak
Shalfak was a Middle Kingdom Egyptian fortress in Lower Nubia, built on a granite outcrop above the Nile in the Second Cataract region. One of the chain of forts erected in the Twelfth Dynasty, probably under Senusret III, it guarded the river passage and the desert routes. Its remains now lie under Lake Nasser.
