13th century · 13th century

Shiban was a Mongol prince, a son of Jochi and grandson of Genghis Khan, who fought in Batu's western campaign against the Rus', Poland and Hungary in the late 1230s and early 1240s. He was rewarded with lands east of the Ural mountains as an appanage within the Golden Horde. His descendants, the Shibanids, later founded the Uzbek Khanate and the Khanate of Sibir and, as the Shaybanids, ruled Bukhara.
