Jochids
The Jochids were the descendants of Jochi, the eldest son of Genghis Khan, who received the western lands of the Mongol Empire. Jochi's son Batu founded the Golden Horde, and his descendants ruled the steppes from the Danube to Siberia. After the Golden Horde broke up, Jochid lines ruled the khanates of Kazan, Crimea, Astrakhan, Sibir, the Kazakhs and the Uzbeks, and descent from Jochi remained the test of legitimate rule there.
