Siraf
Siraf was a port on the Iranian coast of the Persian Gulf, near modern Bandar Taheri in Bushehr province. In the 9th and 10th centuries it was the Gulf's leading harbour, trading with India, East Africa and China. After an earthquake in 977 and political changes it declined, and its trade passed to the island of Kish. Excavations in the 1960s and 1970s uncovered its mosque, houses and harbour.
