Soba
Soba was the capital of the medieval Nubian kingdom of Alodia, on the east bank of the Blue Nile near modern Khartoum. Medieval writers described it as a large city with fine buildings and churches, and excavations have revealed churches, palaces and imported goods. It declined in the late Middle Ages and was abandoned after the Funj and Abdallab took it around 1504.
