Blue Nile
The Blue Nile is the river that flows from Lake Tana in the Ethiopian highlands through a deep gorge into Sudan, joining the White Nile at Khartoum. It carries most of the Nile's floodwater and silt. Its valley was home to Soba, capital of Alodia, and to Sennar, capital of the Funj Sultanate, while in Ethiopia it bounded kingdoms such as Damot.
