South India
South India is the southern part of the Indian peninsula, usually taken to include the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. Largely Dravidian-speaking, it was the home of the Pallavas, Cholas, Pandyas, Chalukyas and Vijayanagara, whose temples, literature and maritime trade carried South Indian influence across the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia.
