Southern Bug
The Southern Bug is a river of Ukraine that flows about 800 km south-east from Podolia to the Black Sea, entering the Dnieper–Bug estuary near Mykolaiv. Known to the Greeks as the Hypanis, it gave the Milesian colony of Olbia on its estuary access to the steppe. In the Middle Ages it bounded Podolia, contested by the Golden Horde and Lithuania.
