Sri Vaishnavism

Also known as Sri Vaishnava, Sri Vaishnava tradition

Sri Vaishnavism is a Hindu tradition devoted to the god Vishnu and his consort Lakshmi, or Sri, which grew from the Tamil devotional hymns of the Alvars. It was systematised by Ramanuja in the 11th and 12th centuries, and its main centres include the temples of Srirangam, Kanchipuram and Melkote.
