Stade

Stade is a town on the lower Elbe in Lower Saxony, Germany, west of Hamburg. A Hanseatic port and a residence of the archbishops of Bremen, it was from 1648 the seat of the Swedish government of the duchies of Bremen and Verden. Its old harbour and timber-framed houses survive.
