Straubing
Straubing is a town on the Danube in Lower Bavaria, at the centre of the fertile Gäuboden plain. From 1353 to 1425 it was the capital of the Duchy of Bavaria-Straubing, whose dukes also ruled Hainaut and Holland and built its ducal castle, and in 1435 Agnes Bernauer was drowned there. Its old town is dominated by a 14th-century city tower.
