Surame
Surame is the site of the ruined first capital of the Kebbi kingdom, in Sokoto State, north-western Nigeria. It was built by Muhammadu Kanta in the early 16th century and enclosed by massive earthen and stone walls, and it remained the royal seat until the kings moved to Birnin Kebbi. The Surame cultural landscape is on Nigeria's tentative list for World Heritage status.
